How to block and avoid cookies

Internet Explorer:

1. In your browser, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced.
2. Click on Override automatic cookie handling.
3. Specify how you want Internet Explorer to handle cookies from first-party websites and third-party websites (websites other than the one you are currently viewing).
4. To allow cookies to always be stored on your computer, click Accept.
5. To disable cookie storage on your computer, click Block.
6. To be prompted whether you want to allow cookie storage on your computer, click Prompt.
7. To always allow session cookies (cookies that will be deleted from your computer when you close Internet Explorer) to be stored on your computer, click Always allow session cookies.

Google Chrome:

1. Click on the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.
2. Select Options (Preferences on Mac and Linux; Settings on Chromebook).

Deleting cookies

1. Click on All cookies and site data to open the Cookies and Other Data dialog.

Default cookie blocking

• Blocking all cookies: select “Block sites from setting any data.” Note that selecting this setting will disable most sites that require login. You will see an icon in the address bar each time a cookie is blocked.
